Agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments
I checked the MI for the boiler, seems the lad who did the check was on the ball
Fail to see the point of servicing a boiler where there is an issue pre-existing

Hi all, thanks for taking the time to read, and I appreciated all the valid comments.
All is complete now as per Picasso's idea.
I called the same gas engineer to make sure he would be happy to return after my alterations. He was, he came, he tested and all was fine.
I now have a safe and tested boiler.
