As part of my kitchen redecoration I have removed several kitchen units from one of the walls, which will now become a plain wall. As a result there are many deep holes where the support brackets were fitted. How far do I need to fill these holes? Should I fill them to the full depth of the hole (up to 10cm) or just fill the first couple of centimetres.

It shouldn't, if you use a good quality filler such as Toupret and mix it according to the instructions.

a useful tip:
don't try to pull out the old plasplugs or you will get a big crater in the plaster. Tap the plugs below the surface by putting a screw in them and lightly tapping the screw head with a hammer until the plug head is a few mm below the surface. Then remove the screw with a screwdriver, and fill the remaining hole.
