Hi all i have a small problem.

My installer rewired my house(no probs)
added a fusebox to the garage (no probs)
did not install the light or plugs that i needed ( probs)

I cannot get him back to finish it off so i need your help.
I hear talk of rings? should i just run the cable out from the fusebox and off to a plug socket, is it that simple?

I'm not going to just rush into this, but i need some guideance please
what cables to use?
should i get one of those outdoor style plug sockets?
how should i wire in a strip light?

I appreciate that this is a bit of a newbie question....

Thanks,

Nick.

do you have any experiance with electrics?

where do you want sockets etc? is there any sockets near?

is the strip light gonna replace an old light?

no. ring circuits are made from a ring of cable, going via each socket starting at the CU. you dont run 1 cable per socket from a CU (mainly b/c you would fit all the cables in.

sockets usually use 2.5mmT+E if a ring. 2.5 or 4mm T+E if a radial (less common). for lighting use 1.5mm T+E.

where are you putting it? outside - yes, inside - wouldnt bother

how should i wire in a strip light?

see for reference section

there are no sockets in the garage it was a new installation
I have minimal experience with electrics, changing sockets and lights that kind of thing.
thanks or your quick response

for someone with minimal experiance with electrics, i would advise getting someone to help.

if you still want to do it, is there a spare space in the new CU?

in the garage, how many sockets do you want and what lighting do you need?

you'll probabily have to use conduit of trunkin to protect the cables

EDIT: what do you plan on plugging in? anything high powered (i.e welder)
