Okay, forgitve some noob questions!
I've bought one of these from Screwfix:
http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=100595&ts=00484&id=91420
It looks really nice but the top pipe is a bit short as I have a free standing bath a couple of cm away from the wall. Is there any trick to move the shower head further into the bathroom?
Check this out:

edit: doesn't work, try this:

The rose unscrews but the pipe and first bend is fixed, although the fixing to the wall does unscrew. The wall is brick and the tiles marble.
Also, the hot and cold pipes run next to each other vertically along the bathroom floor, one on top of the other. They both have isolation valves so cutting through is no problem, though the bath is in the way. What sort of join should I be looking to make to direct the pipes up to the shower thermostat? The pipes are quite thick and grey and I'm thinking chrome to match the rest of the bathroom.
Any comments much appreciated!
Cheers.
