I have a porch light with a built in PIR. I have just replaced it with exactly the same light fitting (so nothing could go wrong!).
It had 3 blue wires coming into the lamp fitting (one of these had brown tape on), 2 brown wires, 1 earth.
On the old fitting, the 2 blue wires from the household wiring went into the blue/neutral connection on the light fitting.
The blue wire with brown tape from the household wiring, went into the live/brown fitting on the light.
The 2 brown wires from the wiring circuit were connected together via chocolate block, and the single earth had a chocolate block to terminate it.
I replaced this like for like on the new fitting.
The switch which turns the power to the light is inside the house, as part of a 2 way switch. The other switch operates an internal hall light.
The new outside porch light works fine. However the internal light on the other switch has stopped working, so we have no internal hall light, as has another light in the hall (which is also a 2 way switch??), and another room (ie most of the lights on the same fuse circuit).
I could possibly understand I've done something to the outside light, but this new light works fine. I've also checked that I hadn't blown any light bulbs etc. Some of the other lights on the circuit (ie those which go off when I trip the fuse box to wire up the light) have come back, but some are not working.
Does any one have any ideas what I can have done!?? We have lots of dark rooms now!?
Thanks[/size
