fitting a bathroom fan with timer

hi i went and bought a manrose bathroom fan with timer but there were no instructions on how to wire the thing up.
can i take a spur from the light cable?
and do i use the earth cable as my switched live?

would much appreciate some help on this one.

just had the house re-wired and the guy put a pully cord for the light fitting and there are that many wires in it i am baffled

NO NO NO. It will be needed to protect the cable. 3core+earth will be used.

Best get him back to fit the fan then.
 
Get the electrician back, you are working in a special location (bathroom) the additions or alterations to any existing circuits, is deemed notifiable work under part p of building regulations.
Not a DIY job!
and I am surprised that there are no instructions with the unit, as normally there is, and this would tell you that "All wiring must comply with current IEE regulations".
Did you buy the unit new?
