Fitting a new exhaust, just gaskets or paste between joints

Hi,

Need to fit a new exhaust, are people still just using gaskets ? as i've seen people on the telly use all kinds of jointing pastes to get a better air tight seal.

It's your choice but I always go with what the manufacturer has done. I.E. if has gaskets, fit new ones if need be.

rule of thumb;

flange = gasket
collar = o-ring + fire gum (or clamp + firegum)
sliding joint or service connection = firegum + shackle

WoW: joints on stainless systems are a pain in the 4rse to seal tightly
