I've just got a new toilet and the fixing holes are horizontal (not like the old style which were on an angle so you could skew the screws in). How do I fix it down, someone has told me there should be a bracket to screw to the floor? I bought the toilet and all the other gear from Plumbworld who were excellent. Cheers

There are a few different type of fixings.

Sounds like yours should have come with some 'L' shaped brackets which get screwed down to the floor first, then the wc gets placed over these. Then you fix horizontally into the brackets.

Andy.

there should be two L shaped brackets.you can always get them at a shed or merchants. fischer make them.

Are they not always supplied with the toilet?

I just cut a block from an odd bit of 4X2 to fit under the pan, screwed that to the floor and wound the horizontal screws into it.

i've done this twice now as i found the L shaped brackets too flimsy, had to trim the top of the timber on one to accomodate the shape of the pan but much more secure as a finish
