perhaps someone could help...

at the weekend i had my garage ceiling repaired - and the light fitting i removed beforehand (and the ceiling rose feeding it), and replaced afterwards - it doesnt work.

BUT, if i wire up a "normal" incandesant bulb to the rose, that works just fine??????

the circuit runs from the consumer unit to the bathroom light, to the bedroom light, to the garage (where the issue is) to the utility room.

all the other lights on that circuit work fine (all incandesant).

if i disconnect the loop in on the garage ceiling rose, and connect it to a normal bulb - works fine, if i hook up the tube, nothing - not a flicker, nowt.

the tube is fine, if i hook that up to a 13amp plug and plug it in, she lights up no issue.....

suggestions? - i'm guessing its something simple like a bad earth or neutral??

thanks in advance

Does the fluorescent fitting have a starter?
If not, it may be one of those older types where the casing must be properly earthed for it to work, and the earth connection at the ceiling fitting is missing / defective.
