Hi all

First post - please be gentle ;)

How can I tell whether a flue liner is 316L or 904 grade stainless steel?
The reason I ask is I think my installer may be ripping me off :(

Many thanks,

Mike

I suppose that depends on who made it.

But can you tell us more about why you are asking?

I would not have expected the metal to be very important to a householder.

Hi Tony thanks for your quick reply

I would not have expected the metal to be very important to a householder.

- Important if you paid the extra for longlife 904 and 316L was substituted

Is there a way I can check that I am not being ripped off? - Would like to be 100% sure of myself before making any challenge.

Like getting blood out of a stone?

So you have had a liner fitted?

You have paid for the more expensive one?

You don't trust the installer and think he has actually fitted the cheaper one?

Do you have any offcuts ? Any name on any of it?

Why are you so suspicious of your installer? Does he have a history of defrauding people?
