Focus multifuction warning light

I have a 2003 (52reg) Ford Focus Zetec auto. When driving in heavy (stop/start) traffic the multifuction warning light comes on and the engine loses power. If I turn the engine off then on again the problem goes (temporarily). In normal driving conditions the car runs fine. Any thoughts please.

Sounds like its overheating? Ensure the electric fan comes on, the one out on the radiator and also check coolant level. The loss of power might be due to the computer cutting the power back because the light come on. Otherwise you might have to get the fault codes read. Local garage should be able to tell you the codes.
