Friedland Warbler Mk2 Door Chime Wiring

Its 12v
It is AC
It is a bell transformer
A new one will do EXACTLY the same as the old one.

Wiring up a door bell is the single most simple thing.
Have you followed my advice?
Does it work?

I will wire it up tmw.

Thanks for all the advice.

I understand all the wires, just stuck at understanding whether or not to make wiring changes to the Transformer to bring it down to 8 volts.

I am struggling why the instructions state 8v, yet the unit states 8/12v on sticker.

Just worried in case 12v damages the chime.

Its a dual transformer,
Across 1 terminal and another you get 8 volt
Or across 1 terminal and the other you get 12 volt

You use ONLY 2 terminals and always leave 1 unused

I think

O is the common supply to one side of the coil

2 is direc to the other side of the coil

R goes to the coil via the interrupter mechanism

Connect one side of the supply to 0, the other side to the door push buttons

connect one door push to 2, pressing that pushing that button will give DING and then when released a DONG

connect the other door push to R pressing that will give repeated DING DONG DING DONG until the push button is released

Not to resurrect this old post but BernardGreens solution works on my bell of the same type that I've been trying to figure out. Cheers fella.
