The power to my electrical oven seems to have 'tripped' after spilling some water.

I have an old main fuse box, which has cartridges which contain fuses - two 3a, two 5a, and a 20a.

Is there any way of knowing which fuse might need replacing?

The 20amp one will be the one for the cooker. All the others would be too small for the cooker to work.

Thanks.

The oven is not working - do you think replacing the 20a in the main fuse box could solve the problem?

Remember to switch the power off before handling the fuse. Are you sure that the water has been dried out properly? If not you could end up with a pile of blown 20amp fuses...and quite a few sparks!

The water is competely dried out.

Won't touch anything until I've switched power off.

It sounds to me that the water may have blown the 20a fuse in the main box - and replacing that might get the oven working again?

Do you agree?
