Hi,

I'm building a garage and have to choose a door. I can find lots of singles and doubles, but nothing in between. Does a 1.5 size exist?

Also, most that I'm looking at are the up and over type (steel). The garage is at the back of the house and vulnerable to break in, so I'm after something strong. Am I better off looking at security products to secure the door from the inside or is there a more secure type of door I should consider?

By 1.5 I meant one and a half width. Somewhere between a single and double. I'm building it so can get any opening between a single or double but don't want as big as a double

The standard sizes are

8 x 7 feet,
9 x 7 feet,
10 x 7 feet,
8 x 8 feet,
9 x 8 feet
and 10 x 8 feet.
You may also be able to get them made to measure.
Your best bet is to contact some garage door suppliers, they will inform you what is available and make your opening accordingly.
There will be no point me or anyone else suggesting door sizes, then you construct your garage and no one supplies in your area.

THanks!

There are many sizes of garage door but the size generally hovers around the 7' x 7' mark and gains or decreases in size or width by 6" increments.

A double garage door is 14'.

You can also buy garage doors made to measure.

There are also side hung doors that are split one third/two thirds as to allow a door opening sized portion of the door for regular use.
