Garage floor ?

Hi folks,foundations for garage are in now,but decided to concrete the floor now rather than just slab it like originally planned.my question is now can lay a couple of courses of blocks around the foundation which will be 12" high,and then concrete the middle,which i have already dug out level with the foundations.will i need something to take up any expansion around the edge where the concrete meets the blocks?.
