I moved into my current house 18 months ago to some ghastly 1980's brick fireplace but the area where a fire would go was boarded up. This evening I decided to rip the plasterboard off in prep and found a massive hole where I would have expected a fire to sit and chimney liner/flue hanging down.

The plan is to rip out the fire place and maybe put an electric fire in situ (the house is hot enough without a fire really) but I am just wondering what to do with the existing flue/liner? Can I leave it there or should it be capped/removed/ventilation provided? I'm happy for any other advice or thoughts.

Thanks in advance

f the top pot/terminal is still open leave it and provide some ventilation to the old flue to keep a little air flow.
