I HAVE RECENTLY FITTED OUR KITCHEN MYSELF BUT GOT A PLUMBER TO FIT THE HOB (GAS) HE SAID HE WAS GAS SAFE REGISTERED BUT DIDNT GIVE ME A CERTIFICATE. AM I SUPPOSED TO HAVE ONE?

Not really unless you specifically asked for one and it was included in the price.

But to ensure you can prove it was safely installed you should have a receipt with his gas safe number noted on it ( by if necessary ).

Since Gas Safe Register took over from Corgi it is no longer necessary to notify cookers but if you want one your installer should be more than happy to provide you with a hand written CP12 type certificate you should satisfy of an installers registration credentials before giving him or her the job check the back of their ID card to ensure they are registered to work on Cookers ;)
