When you manually leaver it open do you have to lock it in place or will it hold its self open?
Also, the valve motor was replaced by the plumber a while back as he thought that was the problem. It could be 2 dud valves of course....

Perhaps it’s not always making end switch? When the lever goes floppy that just means that the valve is powering its self open, which means its working at that point.
Could be, but Im reading it that the op is manually opening it sometimes so assuming they are levering the valve open rather than just making end switch.Perhaps it’s not always making end switch?
Cylinder thermostat is on side of cylinder. The cylinder has a lengthy warranty which I guess can be used if the thermo is at fault.Where is the cylinder thermostat located? Also as an FYI - boiler manufacturer will not sort this issue out for you.
Very odd. If the valve levers all floppy then it means its energised and powered its self over.
It does seem that when the water is warm/hot in the tank then the HW valve works. In the morning for example, the water is hot after being heated in the evening and the valve always comes on.
Cylinder warranty wouldn’t cover the thermostat unless they supplied it.Cylinder thermostat is on side of cylinder. The cylinder has a lengthy warranty which I guess can be used if the thermo is at fault.
Post a photo of cylinder thermostat and zone valves. Also what temperature is the thermostat set to?
I'm guessing the plumber would still have the warranty?? details should be sent to me I guess?Cylinder warranty wouldn’t cover the thermostat unless they supplied it.
Thx but all the wiring was checked by the electrician when all was working a few weeks ago.could be simply a loose wire somewhere
That is not always the case as there are now restrictions on what GSR can do electrically, hence problems arise. As always now "" competent" in ability is entirely different to "" competent"" in law.usually the gas safe guy would be competent enough to do the electrics
There are limits to what is allowed in law.Hi thanks for the response but is a gas safe engineer qualified to do electrics as well as plumbing? I think yes?
From my experience..sparkies know v little about CH wiring.Thx but all the wiring was checked by the electrician when all was working a few weeks ago.
