(Get) 1 gang 2 way dimmer

Hi was looking for some advice please.

I currently have a new dimmer to fit and was unsure what the SW output on the back was for.
I think the dimmer is faulty just wanted to run it past you guys first incase i'm doing something wrong.
I have 3 wires from the wall red (live) black (comm) and Green/yell( Earth) now red goes to the L and Black to the wavy line but it does not seem to work any help would be appreciated thank you. and i have earthed the wall socket| View media item 22588

Sw is proberly for use with a slave for two way.
Why is your earth RED and yellow.

My mistake i meant yellow/green, On closer inspection it looks like its been tampered with before one of the lugs is cracked where someone has obviously had a look inside the transformer so i'm going to take it back.
