Hi, we've had some black granite tiles fitted to the bathroom. Unfortunately the tiler finished in the half-light and didn't notice one tile was different to the rest!

We now have a single tile with a dull, black surface and no metallic fleck in the finish. The compounding problem is that we also have underfloor heating (mat).

Is there a way to polish the tile to at least get a shiny finish, or alternatively removing the tile without destroying the heating element?

Thanks,

John.

highly unlikely on both counts unfortunately.

Technology doesn't yet exist to reproduce factory polishing on site, we can get close, but it won't be any better than the dull finish you have now.

Pulling the tile up is possible if you are very very careful, but I wouldn't advise it.

Thanks Mudster, disappointing though that is.

Any advice on how to get the tile up? (if I work up the courage).

Spend time to carefully cut the grout out from around the tile completely.

Fortunately granite is normally quite thin as it's dense.

So once the grout is clear, hit it in the middle of the tile with a hammer unitl it breaks, gradually break it out from the middle out.
