Gravel area and pathway

I have a small area side of the house im looking at putting gravel down and also a small pathway leading up to the shed with gravel surrounding the path.

My plan is to dig everything up and level off as best i can. Drive some pegs in and fill with 50mm or so of Type 1 MOT. Compact and make sure all is level before laying a weed membrane . Should this be done before the Type 1.

Then lay the slabs /paving i want with a mortar mix. Then to finish off, infill with pea shingle to the slab level.

Does this sound about right? Is it ok to mortar straight onto the Type 1 MOT.

Your mot would be better at 75mm thick.

Yes lay your mortar bedding direct onto the mot.

Your gravel would ideally be around 50mm deep so
Depending on the flags used 25-50mm +bedding of 40mm you may need to dig the flags into the mot by 25mm or so or add more once the flags are down.

Weed membrane should go between mot and gravel if you want to use one.
