My water tank usually only fills about 3/4 a bath in the morning before both the hot and cold taps stop running. It then takes almost the whole day to refill.

I've looked in the loft and the mains inlet to the tank literally just dribbles. There does seem to be quite a lot of debris at the bottom of the tank.

Whats the best way to resolve the problem as it seems to be getting worse?

change the ballvalve and clean the tank out ;)
Probably best to change the ball valve but if you don’t fancy it, a good clean up & a new rubber valve washer may just do the trick; they sometimes stick or it may just be full of crud. Remove the split pin to remove the ball & actuating arm & unscrew the cap on the end of the valve to get at the inards. Turn the mains water off first & drain the tank so you can clean all the crud out of the bottom at the same time. If that fails to cure it, the inside of the feed pipe may be blocked with calcium if your in a hard water area.
