Was working fine till today.

Now it lights and goes out for 3 or 4 times then reset and blue light flash and shows ea in the display .

Doesn't continually spark after its lit and flue appear to be fine.

Any help appreciated

If its not sparking then you need to start at the beginning and see what is actually working correctly, eg fan, aps etc.

What does the MI's say about the ea fault code?

ea is flame not detected.

flue
electrodes
supply pressure
burner
fan maybe

Common one I have had from flame detection error is the set up of min and max co levels....rare that there are faulty components on this boiler!

Any more info on this one?

Intermittent EA fault

CO² spot on 9.7% high 9.1% low
Spark gap 4.5mm
condense trap cleaned

Not working on arrival (EA fault) very poor spark, cleaned trap, closed electrodes, checked continuity on flue ad o/h stas then worked fine, called in tonight EA fault again!?

Baxpoti, was it the square heat ex block one or new cylindrical one?

Old ones were prone to moisture on electrodes.

Did ya check inlet gas pressures?

Sorry, old heat exchangers has 2 bolts on the front you could take off for access to clean, new cylinder style access is from top.

Any water on the electrodes connection to the board?

which WB model was it?
What was the spark like again today after you closed the gap?

42CDi has a square WB5 heat exchanger the round WB3 heat exchanger is found on cheaper models like the Si, i Junior and Ri.

Gas pipework is undersized but the boiler should still work fine with 15mbar inlet pressure just not give full performance.

Check the bearing plate hasn't split in the air/gas manifold.

Check both gas valve coils they should read between 120 and 200 Ohms

If the boiler is connected to an old gas pipe it may be worth checking the gas valve inlet filter.

You can check ignition by turning on permanent spark in service mode. Hold service button till it turns orange (roughly 10 secs) press eco button till 8F is displayed, press chimney sweep button, press eco till 1 is displayed, press and hold chimney sweep till ignition starts DO NOT RUN FOR MORE THAN 2 MINUTES. To turn off press eco till 0 is displayed, press and hold chimney sweep button.

Hope this helps.

Arrived to find EA and flashing lights.

Tried to get the boiler into service mode..

Couldn't get 8F it stopped at 7... returned to 1

Removed siphon bowl and pint of coondense it fired up!

Blew down condense pipe, all clear

Washed siphon trap and tube refitted switched on and no ignition spark..Gas OK

Closed spark gap down to 3-4mm and away it went.

Ran heating and hot water, left heating running.

Waiting for the knock on the door.......................

Oop's am I bad 8F is in service level 2 which you get to by going into service level 1 (holding service button for 10 secs) then pressing and holding eco and holiday buttons for 3 secs.

My apologies.
