In other words: the prv might be leaking.
Yes there is a small pipe outside on the external wall. can not get any hot water now a red light comes on now above the on/off button please can you help do i need a plummer
It would help if you told us whether it is bone dry or not.
It is above my extenstion, i looked out of the bedroom window and so a couple of drips coming out

Seems like a leaking safety valve, which would need repairing or replacing.
Before that gets done, you need to find out WHY it started leaking. Usually, it is a sign of corrosion in the system due to poor installation and/or poor maintenance. Expansion vessel also suspect.
