Heating pipes behind skirting board

I saw the programme "Bobski the bulder" where they showed how some
heating pipes that the Polish builder installed damaged the floor but I
could not see exactly what happened or the thing about lack of
insulation.

I have some plastic barrier pipes for the central heating in some
sections of the first floor perimeter and there will be hardwood skirting
boards over them and hardwood flooring next to them. Is there a danger
that they can damage the skirting or flooring? Is it better to put
insulation on the pipes?

I also have some hot water pipes in another portion of the ground floor behind
the skirting board (not installed yet) where there will be tiles. Is it
a similar situation? But there is Underfloor heating so I do not see why
the heat from the pipes should cause damage if the UFH should not.

Provided they are not leaking they will not do any damage, provided the wood is not green. If it's properly seasoned wood then it'll be fine. It is always a good idea to insulate pipes wherever possible.

Can't see any problems with tiling either. Didn't see the program so can't comment on what went on there

Thanks, I will put insulation between the wood and the pipes anyhow. I also believe that the plastic pipes will dissipate less heat than copper pipes.
