Hi all,

had a HEATLINE C28 installed about 11 months ago, never had a problem since it was installed. However, i got up yesterday morning only to discover that their was no power light on the unit. Checked all the fuzes on the consumer unit and that the isolator switch for the boiler was on, all okay. Got the Plumber who fitted it (a neighbour) to look over it and within minutes he said that the 2 2amp fuzes on the main board had blow, replaced for new ones and blew as soon as it called for heat.

I have an engineer coming to look at the boiler this week sometime (still in warranty) but just wondered if anyone else has had this problem?

Your neighbour who fitted it ( illegally if he is not CORGI ) probably did not power flush the system before fitting the boiler and adding inhibitor.

The dirt in the system then wears away the seal in the diverter valve gland until it leaks.

The water released then runs into the actuator and shorts that out.

If thats whats happened then it should not be covered by the warrantee and will result in a chargeable call.

It could also be a similar cause having worn the pump bearings and letting water into the pump windings. Still becomes a chargeable call.
