You won't need a professional, but you will need a hard hat and goggles.
If the roof is asbestos sheeting, then you will also need a high quality dust mask. Give it a good soaking with a hose then remove very carefully. Don't break that up whatever you do, and unlikely you'll be allowed to skip it.
