Hi Everyone

I recently replaced my interior doors but kept the handles, some of the screws in the door latches were jammed so I had to drill them out.

I need to find replacement screws and can't find them!

They are 7mm head size, 6mm long, countersunk.

Can anyone help? I looked through the screwfix catalouge but couldn't find them.

we need to know the thread type and pitch

basicly take your screw find a nut that will fit that will give you the size and type
you then buy countersunk machine screws that size or longer with a couple off nuts or 1 nut and some washers to tighten up and allow you to cut the correct length with a junior hacksaw

get them at least 1" long if you need to cut them and use a vice but leave the nut on the head to clear the thread once cut

your screw size is going to be roughly half the head size

Machine screws are defined by the thread size, so you need to measure the overall diameter of the threaded part, not the diameter of the head.

Many different thread forms were used for similar jobs, depending on age and country of origin of the parts. Few are interchangable, but most are still available. It's usually easier to find a nut of known size that fits the screw to define the diameter and thread form, and work from there.

Specialist tool and fastener stockists keep a larger range of sizes and lengths than the, IMO, lamentably poor selection of dubious quality and often mis-sized products offered at over-inflated prices by DIY sheds.
