My 5 year old and his friend got pen on the dining table and I looked up the Internet for advice on getting it off. One of the solutions I seen was nail polish remover so I tried it and now I've got 5 areas where I've completely stripped the finish from it. Ok so now with hindsight I know I've been a total idiot and I don't know why it never occurred to me that that would happen. Seems obvious now. The table is a standard dining set from Argos and on the website it says it has an oak finish and oak veneer. Is there anything I can do to repair it?

You might be able to wipe off all the finish and re-varnish, any patch attempt will be fairly obvious.
