Hi please can anyone help - I'm several layers into a frustrating problem and stuck now - its a long story I'm afraid:
Painting bathroom - over existing silk emulsion on walls.
Mistake 1 I didn't sand down existing paint
Mistake 2 didn't use a bathroom specific silk used ( not waterproof)
2 coats later, Paint discolours when getting wet, leaving permanent marks.
Also chips off too easily
I covered it with 1:1 PVA solution to seal it as recommended by 2 professionals
Then painted with bathroom specific silk with a paint pad
Now When painting new colour, wet paint lifts off previous coats, and/or crackles underneath.
Fed up - should I completely sand down and start again or is there a cheat?
