Hi, I have an old intercom system which originally had a Bell intercom handset. That got replaced with a universal Fermax handset (works fine).
I am now trying to change the handset to a new fermax one which has a volume control (fermax REF. 03394 4+N EXTRA LOFT TELEPHONE). When I wire it up the same as the old one i can just hear the buzzer ringing in the telephone. when I take the white wire out it stops and i can hear outside noise.
This is the intercom wiring and both old handsets:-
Bell -- Old Fermax -- Intercom Wire Colours -- What I think they are for
Z -- 1 -- White -- Lock
R -- 2 -- Green -- Speach out
O -- 3 -- Orange -- Common
T -- 4 -- Brown -- Speak in
1 -- 6 -- Blue -- Ringer
There are three extra wires unused - white wire with brown dashes, white wire with orange dashes and a white wire green dashes (none of them ever used)
The new handset has the same numering system as the old one eg, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6
The manual for the new set does not give much guidance for replacing handset:-
http://docweb.fermax.com/docs/manuales/97341b Telefono Loft 4+n Basic-Extra Ref 3393-3394 V09_12.pdf
Is it possible to make this work? Anyone got any experience that might be able to help? Thanks!
