Hi Guys,

I would like to replace a double switch that controls the living room and stairs light for a double dimmer switch.
I've pulled it off the wall and took a picture.

The current switch has L1, L2 and L3
The new switch has L1, L2 and C

Can I disconnect and reconnect matching the following?

current switch -> new switch

L1 -> L1
L2 -> L2
L3 -> C

Thanks,
Rod

Firstly no,

L1 = C
L2 = L1
L3 = L2

On the right hand switch a straight forward L1 to C and L2 to L1.

However, the left hand switch is one of a two-way switched light so the other switch will only turn on to whatever 'dimness' at which the dimmer is set - unless you obtain a slave dimmer for the other switch position.

Also, you have an unusual set up with two cables containing Red, Blue and Yellow.
Presuming it is wired correctly as it is working, just transfer the wires as above.

It says on the label - minimum load 10W.
There is usually a maximum as well.
Look in the instructions and make sure these limits correspond to your situation.

Thanks EFLImpudence.

I will do it this weekend.
Would you mind checking if my drawing/wiring looks fine?

Yes, the left hand switch is wired and working properly.
I will check the maximum load.

Cheers.
Rod
