Any help gratefully received. Our boiler fired up, but CH cut out after about 45 mins, HW fine. Only way to get it to start again was to turn off mains and restart. We called out a plumber, he had a look, called Biasi and decided we needed new PCB, he came to fit it today, turned on boiler, HW fine but now no CH at all. He has no idea, so I have to call a Biasi plumber. In the meantime, anyone any ideas?

Thanks

It seems to me that you called a nupty who cannot diagnose faults on boilers.

He had to call the makers and they over the telephone suggested that he changed the PCB. Not knowing any better he did that and it still did not work!

I do hope you did not pay him for his incompetence !

You need a competent engineer who can diagnose faults. A first clue is what the lights show when the CH cuts off after 45 minutes.

Sometimes the PCBs have to be set up to match the boiler!

Tony

No I did not pay him, for his time nor the PCB.

When the CH cut, the lights were still indicating it was on (2 green flashing) and it sounded as though it was still on, the only indicators that it wasn't being the radiators getting cold and the flame not on.

Here hoping the next engineer can sort it.

Well done !!! He does not deserve to be paid!

But I hope he refitted the old PCB and restored it to the original working condition so you still had hot water and 45 minutes of heating at a time.

The PCBs are quite expensive if its the later single PCB. About £160 !

What year is your boiler? ( Last four digits of serial number ).

That he didn't do despite my insistance, he bluntly refused to put the old one back in, saying he had to rush off to another job as he wasn't getting paid, so I didn't do that well Tony!

So no CH, just hot water. I'll have to check the last four digits when I get back home later. When we moved into the house there was a receipt saying it was installed in 2007, but, the receipt was handwritten, with a now uncontactable mobile number and a supposed 5 year guarantee, I wouldn't hold out much hope that the boiler was even new in 2007!

Andy

So did you refit the old PCB yourself or did he leave the new one in?

Only the earliest ones had two PCBs until perhaps about 2005.

Presumably yours had just the one.

Tony

No haven't refitted it myself but i might try that tomorrow (he left new one in). Only one PCB so must be later.

Well if he kindly left it in then it was an expensive part if he is going to abandon it to you.

Or is he expecting whoever repairs the boiler to change them back so he can collect it sometime?

Tony

He is even more of a nupty!

He cannot diagnose faults and spends about £160 on a PCB he has to abandon!

Did he have any excuse for his poor performanance?

Tony

Just that he didn't have a clue and it required a specialist Biasi engineer!
