We have a double socket which only has one wire supplying it and it has its own breaker on the consumer unit. The breaker is a 16A as far as I am aware. I was thinking of adding another socket to the line to have some twig lights plugged into one and a fridge freezer plugged in the other. Is this ok, or would I need to increase it to 32A?

No. You must not increase it to 32 amps unless you make a ring. You could increase it to 20 amps but no point really.

Can't read your pic due to poor lighting.

Is it an old immersion heater circuit? Or was it put in for a freezer?

You can add as many sockets to it as you want, but of course it will trip if overloaded, which may be rather inconvenient, especially if you have a freezer on it.

What is a twig light?

Thank you for the reply. Is it ok to get another double socket added? So basically it would be wire out of consumer unit to new double socket, then wire continued to existing socket. Is it ok to have a fridge freezer running of this?

A radial final circuit can be on a 32 amp breaker provided that the cable is of a suitable size.

In fairness to W and to make it simple for the OP, its unlikely to be the correct size cable for a 32

Thanks again. Basically the kitchen sockets are all on a ring, but the electrician added this double socket after, hence why it is the only socket on the 16A breaker. I just wanted to make sure it was safe before getting it looked at

It is not incorrect or misleading. He has not stated that he has a cable capable of carrying 32 amps. Therefore he MUST NOT upgrade the breaker to 32 amps.
