Our 2001-vintage Performa 1100 has just developed a fault that doesn't quite fit the 'usual' cure...
It's started to stall just past position 4 of the programmer. Having looked around this forum, the culprit would appear to be the element not heating. To tell, it is suggested, open the soap drawer and listen for the gentle hiss of heating water.
No hissing. Blown element then.
But no! If I turn the machine off, wait several seconds and then turn it back on - it works! The drum starts again and, at the next hesitation, the gentle hiss of warming water can be heard. All is well - until the next load, when it stalls just past position 4...
Clearly then there is some sort of contact issue in the control circuit. What component do I need to be testing (and how) or replacing?
Many thanks in advance.
