I am running a very basic heating system utilising a Rayburn wood burning stove with back boiler. The system runs 5 rads but not the hot water system.
The system works well but I have noticed that the pump gets very hot, certainly hotter than the water it's pumping.
Is this normal?

Since the pump generates heat it's bound to be hotter than the water inside it, and its higher heat capacity may well mean that it feels hotter to the touch, but have you measured this objectively?
