Hi

I have a bathroom supply which gets hot direct off mains via a combi boiler, and cold from a tank in the loft. A handy man has just fitted a bath tap mixer and shower set for me but with H&C water running we get no cold water through the shower. It appears the hot pressure is too high compared with the cold pressure.

Please can anyone suggest a solution. I have read about pressure balancing and thermostatic mixers, but am not sure about the difference, and also whether either of them will be any good, or whether I should think about getting my bathroom cold water directly from the mains as well.

Thanks in advance.

Why not just connect the cold feed from the tank straight to the mains.

Yes, that is what I was thinking, but I am not a plumber, I'm not even a handyman, so I guess I was looking for plausible ideas from people in the know like you.

It's great that you have validated for me that this is indeed an option. I just need to know if I have any other options.

Thank you.

who ever fitted your combi hasn't done his job correctly, when the combi was fitted then the roof tank should have been disconnected & all your cold water should be off of the mains, as someone else said connect the cold going to your roof tank to the supply coming out of it & do away with the tank
