Hello, I have a combi boiler in my flat. When I turn the hot tap on in the kitchen the water flows but slowly starts to reduce in speed. I have to turn the tap on a bit more to get the flow back, or else the bolier stops firing and heating the water.
Its not a big problem, just annoying, if your washing you hands and the water slowly reduces and you have to keep turning the tap on some more making the tap all soapy or dirty etc.... etc..
Why does this happen and could it be solved with new taps!?

This is caused by the tap parts expanding and closing the flow. It only happens at low flow rates when the tap is just partly open.

If it bothers you then use an isolating valve the restrict the flow so the tap has to be turned on further.

Thought it might be. As I say, not a bit problem just annoying. Will get it fixed in the near future.
Thanks,

David.

It's more annoying when it's the other way around... You think you've turned the hot tap off, then, after a while, as it cools down, it starts dripping.
.... particularly in winter when the slow trickle then freezes in the waste pipe overnight
