Hi,
I've a combination boiler (Glowworm Swiftflow 100) and the following is happening.
Running the hot water tap fires up the boiler as expected, but then usually after a few seconds it stops and the water runs cold. This has previously ran fine for the last 4 years.
This is intermittent and seems to happen more often when the central heating is on. Switching the electric mains from the boiler off and on seems to resolve the problem for a short while...could this indicate it's a circuit board problem?
I've tested the flow switch and it seems fine, also the water pressure is really good as it's always been. I'd read that it could be the expansion vessel (the big red one at the back) so I've pumped that up to the correct Bar, yet the problem is still happening. I've also replaced the thermistor and have the pilot light on quite high as I thought the increase in power could be moving the flame out of the thermistor, but again that's not solved the problem.
I think if I call out a plumber, you can bet it will work just fine when they arrive.
Any ideas other than a new boiler ... any ?
Thanks for your help!
Mike
