Since My boiler packed up last week and the part not arriving till late Friday and not being fitted until tomorrow I have been using the Imersion (unsure of spelling)heater. after about an hour of switching it on it sounds like its going to take off and the water is so hot.
My question is where is the thermostat that now controls the hot water? Is it the same on on the side of the tank that wired into the Gas boiler system????

Under the plastic cap of the immersion heater ther should be a thermostat, not wired with the stat on cylinder.

No plastic, got a metal cap that the cable from the switch goes into and it has an earth wire bolted on to it with no obvious way of getting it off, unless the nut that keeps the earth strap on also retains the metal cover??

The nut was keeping the cover on and the stat was set at 80, turned it down, cheers....... :p

See what happens now, its still possible the stat in the imersion may not work, in which case it will boil the contents of the cylinder. Stat should be available seperately if needed. Isolate power first though if you do need to change it!!!!!

Turned it down, waiting to see what occurs.... Cheers All
