Hi,

My Hotpoint Aquarius DC24 dishwasher has been having intermittent problems emptying for a few weeks but was still otherwise working. However, last week as it switched to the drying cycle it gave two loud bangs and produced some smoke. I looked inside and the only item that seemed to show any sign of damage was the connections on the 4uF capacitor which were slightly blackened.

I replaced the capacitor but , once again, when it got to the drying stage it gave three loud bangs and produced smoke. As it appears to be related to the change from the rinse cycle to the drying cycle - is there a specific problem I should be looking for? Does it require a major repair?

I'd be very grateful if anyone has any ideas or suggestions. Thanks in advance.
