Hotpoint FDW60 dishwasher cycle not completing

I have a Hotpoint FDW60 Dishwasher that stops after the wash cycle and the delicate light flashes, the cycle then ends. The plates are cold as though the water is not being heated, does this mean there is a problem with the heating element or could it be something else.

If it is the heating element is it an easy thing to replace and is it very expensive.

Check the thermister is still connected to the rear of the dispenser. It's a little white square with 2 black wires on it.
