My Hotpoint WM13P bought about 13 year ago is making a banging (that has got progressively worse) when on spin. Even with nothing in the drum it still makes a "womp-womp" sound (like banging without the bang)
The concrete damping is fixed tightly but the 2 springs restraining top of the drum seem a bit weak. The 2 dampers supporting the drum may be a little weak also. The rim of the drum goes up and down relative to the door opening when the drum is turned by hand.
Has the drum gone out of shape or should I replace springs and dampers.

Thanks

Mike

PS or is it time for a new machine

Sounds like the drum shaft has bent or the bearings gone.

Drum shaft means replacement of drum, spider, bearings and a few not so polite words. (not really worth getting anyone in to do it)

At the end of the day it will still be an old machine though, so time to bite the bullet and put it out to pasture (unless you are competent at mechanical stuff and wish to spend best part of a day hammering out bearings and dismantling your machine)
