From being week to week for past couple months(partly my choice) it has just gone stupid again as per September.

In past week just took in 6 weeks work with more or less definites of 2 or 3 weeks on top of this.

There's work out there if you're lucky enough to pick it up, but there's certainly not enough for everyone.

Talking to my ex colleagues, there still plenty of work in the large domestic market, but again Mr average don't get a look in as it's specialist work.

Speaking to a mate last night who is fastest guy i have ever seen . Said to him are you busy. Not too bad got a few weeks ahead in and done FOUR boilers this week.

In the servicing market, Domestic has picked up over the last 2 weeks, after a very quiet summer, Industrial however has been very busy all summer, and has now gone Balistic :D

Been my busiest year so far. Kept about 6 - 8 weeks booked ahead which is good for us in the landscaping business. Doing its usual tailing off towards winter, but still ok. So not what some puppet character on here predicted last autumn when he said id have no work come the middle of the year.

Some people coming back with some rediculous quotes though. Priced up one job in the middle of the city, all had to go through the house, level up a garden, expensive paving, fence etc. Customer come back to me and said another guy has priced it at half the price of yours. I poloitley suggested that since the materials and skips were more than that they were welcome to go with it, but perhaps they should be a bit wary! You just cant compete with that!

This is the worst I have seen it since going it alone 7 years ago. All was fine up until about a month ago then it just dropped off, not a single call for a long time. Had a fantastic year up until then and I wondered what all this credit crunch nonsense was all about....then it hit me.

It has picked up now, got 6 weeks work and another couple of weeks in the pipe line.

I have always been 3 or 4 months booked up though so things have changed.

This is the Bathroom Industry, Supply and Install, although the supply side for a one man band has gone out of the window totally now. Unless you have a showroom , forget it.

On the Plus side, I have savings and this is giving me the opportunity to complete some big projects in my own home; I simply wouldn't have had the time to do it over the past hectic years

Landscaping is v quiet here (notts area) for me - it tails off anyway from now, but most years I have a few jobs lined up. Not this year.

Perhaps a good job as a) I've done the back in and b) loads to do at home

i'm involved in the house building market and it's has been getting quieter quieter for about the last 18 months.
But managed to muddle through, unfortunately had to lose some guys along the way.
It does seem to be picking up now and the books are full, but it's very much can you do it now! and at a cut price.
Traditionally it goes quiet again during the winter months up until spring time, it used to be the weather but I think it may also have something to do with the tax year ending.
But defo looking better!

Small building projects been very good from April but seems to be tailing off . Got Quotations out and next year from March looks good but Winter survival is here again,be honest I get fed up scratching around during the Winter months with weather etc, I won't take on an accepted quote if it's external i.e rendering or whatever just to keep the bank happy, anyone got 3 months of internal plastering they want a hand with?
