hi all, my Mum is moving out of a council house into a council flat where they dont have GAS, so i have given away her gas cooker to someone via. the Freecycle website, they are coming to collect it very soon, i went to DIS-connect it earlier today and i found the Bayonet fitting wouldnt come apart. I have a very good idea that if this bayonet fitting from the gas cooker IS disconnected i would not need to turn off the gas supply.

So can someone advise please how to DIS-connect the bayonet fitting if possible WITHOUT turning off the gas supply ????

BTW, my Mums old council house is subsiding so badly that it isnt going to Re-Let to anyone else until they have carried out some very extensive (and expensive) repairs, in fact they may even sell it to the highest bidder !!!.

It could be an idea mate to turn off the gas supply before trying the cooker bayonet, just in case something goes wrong?
If all goes well, then you can turn it back on again!

I would be able to do that buddy for sure, turn the gas off, but the bayonet fitting, to disconnect it does it have to be pushed or pulled, turned left or right, it doesnt seem to move whatever i do with it.

Push brass nut and twist it's like a locking cap. Push and twist, twist a fraction and pull off.
