Hi guys,

I came across an article which stated that radiators perform at their peak (in terms of convection heating) when the boiler temp was between 70 and 80 degrees. Is this correct?

Thanks,
Dave

Modern boilers are usually limited to 80, we now aim for 20degrees across pipes, that leaves you an average of 70 in your radiator if the trv is calling for heat. That is as hot as you are ever going to get it.

Its not really correct. Radiators give out more heat when they are hotter.

Older boilers were designed with a flow/return of 80/69°C.

Latest condensing boilers are more efficient at 70/50°C.

Thanks for the replies.

I think that I am currently running the boiler at about 65ºC, so it looks like I should turn it up a bit.
