Hi - wondered if anyone can help with a simple problem.

I need to replace the pilot solenoid on the gas valve on an Ideal Classic LXFF 260. The gas valve is a Honeywell VR4601A/A1036. I have taken the pilot solenoid off but how do I release it from the silver clip (see photo).

When replacing the solenoid there appear to be two alternatives: -

45.900.46003 - red solenoid 240V

45.900.406.004 - black solenoid 240V

Can either be used or is one specific to this valve??

Thanks

Whoa there why have you removed the whole assembly from the gas valve?, you are asking for a world of trouble there.

The clip you can see between the solenoid and the bracket cones out sideways then you take the metal clip off and slide the solenoid out.

Are you sure that is the pilot not the main, a pic of what is left of the gas valve may be good. The new 240v solenoids are red but depends which gas valve it is.

Thanks ollski, the gas is shut off.

I'll take a photo of the gas valve and post later today.

Thanks
