Standing charge is included no matter what you use or how much of it you use, totally disagree with it, but it is what it is, total rip off

Totally agree. Standing charges are a complete rip off. There was absolutely no need for them to jump up when the price of fuel increased. I was on a fixed deal until last November, 7p a day for each fuel, now it is 27p for gas and 43p for electricity. Ofgem is a joke and seem to be working in the favour of the utility companies who are making huge profits and taking them abroad to spend in their Countries of origin on their infrastructure.
Our Ideal Elan had a gas valve about 15+ years ago. Was here when we moved in 22 years ago.
Engineer said it might just be the solenoid but I might want to consider replacing the whole valve.
Still plodding on. Was getting a bit noisy but a chemical clean a couple of years ago seems to have sorted that.
