please could some shed some light on our problem boiler.
we have a ideal mininimiser ff50 boiler with a mind of its own, when the control panel is switched off ie not asking for hot water or heating the boiler ignights on its own making the boiler rattle like hell and sending water into the tank in the loft. our plumber has changed the controll panel frost thermastat, room thermastat and boiler thermostat ,checked both valves and pump which are working fine.
any ideas as to what else could be causing the boiler to ignite, please dont say the heat exchanger(£500).
thanks for any replies

firstly get a heating engineer not a plumber who doesn't knows what he's doing. I'm sure you would have been quite capable of guessing at the problem yourself without his help. Do you have a bypass fitted?

sorry to sound a bit numb but the gent that looked at it is a heating speicalist(hes a good gent) and whats a by pass ?
sorry again if i seem a bit out my depth used to things withh wheels on.

a bypass is a section of pipework that tees from between the pump and the valves into the return feed back to the boiler.
I'm sorry but unless your post is highly misleading your heating specialist is not "good".

have to agree, change blokes, that one is guessing.

hope he hasnt angled you up for the heatex as that definately isnt the fault.

theres no bypass pipe inbetween the pump and valves (could this be the cause of the boiler starting to ignite on its own ?)
heating engineer is trying to source a heat exchanger but have told him to hang on untill he gets me a price fisrt.
thanks for the quick responce.

ffs change blokes now... the heat ex will not make the boiler come on on its own. this is morelikeley than not a simp,le valve fault. if you cant get anyone else get a bg fixed price fix.

I think that I have a brand new Minimiser that you could have for less than that!
