Hi, I have purchased an Indesit H961FIX and have noticed the electrical connection on my appliance is a 2 pin plug. Is this normal. The manual says it has been manufactured as a class II, therefore no earth cable is necessary. Please advise if this is ok for the UK. Thanks.

Do you mean only two pins which fit in a normal socket?

Do you mean two pins and with a plastic earth pin which fit in a normal socket?

Or is it some other arrangement that won't fit a normal socket?

Where did you buy it? Normal outlet or ebay from some distant land?

Make absolutely sure it is marked as 220/230/240V and 50Hz and is intended for UK use.
If it is not, do not use and send it back.

If it is -

Just cut it off and ether -

fit a normal plug with a 3amp fuse or

wire to a Fused Connector Unit with a 3amp fuse.

As there is no earth (class II)just connect live and neutral. An earth must not be connected.

Wouldn't a switched FCU with a buried load cable running to a flex outlet behind the chimney be the best way to install it anyway?

Thanks for your reply everyone. The item was bought from Argos. I have spoken to Indesit today who confirm i have been sold a european model, and although it is 220/230/240v and 50hz, it has the wrong connection on the end. They are sending a replacement asap.
